The Special 8-step Aqua-Stairs® dock ladders designed to accommodate people who have difficulty lifting their legs on dock steps. Because the stair steps are set at 9′′ increments rather than the standard 12′′ increments on dock ladders, people who are elderly, have knee replacements, hip replacements, or other complicated issues may find this ladder easier to negotiate. Some customers jokingly refer to it as the geriatric ladder but say they would not or could not swim without it. Some customers use this as a small pet ladder option. The staircase design, like all Aqua-Stairs® ladders, has allowed people and dogs to get out of the water where conventional, vertical ladders with small steps would not have allowed.
- Like the 6-step dock ladder, this swimming ladder is intended for use where the mounting surface is no more than 48 inches above the water unless they are stepping from the lake bottom onto the last step.
- The last step of the Aqua-Stairs® special 8-step angled dock ladder is 5 feet below the dock surface.
- At 24”, the loop handles on this dock ladder are taller than those on the regular 15” handles, making it such that people do not have to stoop over as far as standard height handles, making it easier for people to use.
- It has large stair steps that are 16′′ wide and 7-1/2′′ deep, making it very comfortable to step on.
- The included triangular, flip-out / mounting brackets are also heavier duty to accommodate the 24′′ loop handles when rotating the ladder from the water.
- When properly installed, this swim ladder does not need to rest on the bottom for proper support; however, if desired, it can rest on the lake bed or sea floor.
- This dock/pier/seawall ladder weighs about 60 pounds.
